Russia’s northwest ports’ 2022 cargo turnover may plummet by 70%

MOSCOW, Sep 9 (PRIME) -- The combined cargo traffic of Russia’s northwestern ports may plummet by 65–70% on the year in 2022 after a 45% contraction in January–July, Dmitry Pankov, CEO of transport and logistics holding Delo Group, told reporters on Friday.

“If we speak about the northwest, I think the cumulative figure will be 65–70% -- it is minus 45% in the first seven months,” he said.

The company is now working to replace container transshipments through the northwestern ports with non-container cargoes like fertilizers, scrap metal, and machines, he said.
